My school has designated this week as “Friendship Week” as part of our anti-bullying strategy. It is such a lovely idea, isn’t it? I am really excited about marking the importance of valuing our friends.

I thought that it would be a lovely idea to get my class to write a little poem about their friend and then to read it to him/her.  As I teach emergent writers (5-7yrs) I created a “fill-in-the-blanks” format poem.  I think that it will be a good way to encourage my class to think about their friendships and to honor a good friend.
