Since I got an interactive white board I having been hearing a lot of “Teacher! He already had a turn!!!”. To be fair, I have 34 children in my class to keep track of. Mistakes happen, ie. an extra turn, and I get scolded for it! In the interest of keeping the peace I created these cute containers which I thumb tacked to the noticeboard beside the projector. Now we are all happy , aah…
(please have your Gmail or Google Docs account open first!)
Just cut out the labels and stick them to a plastic cup. I purchased some colourful lollipop sticks and wrote names on them with a Sharpie. Now I move their lollipop stick name from one container to another and everyone gets their fair share of turns.
(Apologies for the lack of lollipop sticks in the photo. I am on mid-term and forgot to bring them home with me. I will update the photo soon)
What do you think? Do you have a similar problem with your class? How do you keep track?!
Have fun,
Miss Mernagh 🙂
In reference to your picking students to work on the IWB. If you are using the Smart Board, built into the Notebook software is a random word picker. Type in the names of your students, and the picker selects your students randomly and darkens names out that were already picked.
The official name is called Random Word Chooser. It can be found in the image gallery.
That’s great to know! I am sure that this will be helpful to lots of teachers out there. Unfortunately, I have a Promethean Whiteboard. Perhaps there is an equivalent programme on mine. I never even thought to check! I must do some exploring….
