No Cook, Homemade Play-dough

I made play-dough by popular request tonight ( a.k.a persistent requests from my class!). It is honestly really cheap and fast to make. I used to make it in large amounts when I was on work experience in Temple Street, Children’s Hospital.

You will probably only have to purchase the Cream of Tartar, and perhaps the American Cup measures as the rest would be considered Kitchen Basics.  (You can get really cheap plastic cup measures in Tesco).

Uncooked Playdough Recipe

1 cup flour

1 cup of boiling water, with food colouring added

1/2 cup salt

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon cream of tartar

Mix all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl until it comes together to make a dough.

(you may need to add a little more flour if your mixture is too sticky)

Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is smooth and pliable.

Pimp your play-dough!

add approx  1tsp of cinnamon to the mix for a lovely smell!

add glitter to make it super fancy

Note: You need to add a lot of food colouring to the water to get a bright colour. It is much easier to colour your dough this way than to add the colour afterwards, trust me!

Stored in an airtight container this will last for weeks.

Remember to have your child wash their hands first or to use hand sanitizer to keep it nice and fresh 😉
